Little Star is an energetic organization, and we are looking for a passionate and driven Staff Accountant to advance the financial operations to support our growth. The Staff Accountant will work closely with the Director of Finance and Accounting and the Chief Financial Officer and operations personnel, and will handle day-to-day, monthly, and annual accounting functions. They will also assist with any special projects that may arise.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

· Perform monthly, quarterly, and annual accounting activities including reconciliations of bank and credit card accounts, coordination and completion of annual audits, and review of financial reports/support as necessary

· Work with the Director of Finance and Accounting on the development and maintenance of accounting ledger and procedures

· Maintain supportive relationships with business unit managers relating to the financial performance. This role involves substantial education of managers that most often do not have financial experience

· Analyze and report on financial status including income statement variances, budget preparation and analysis

· Acting on issues on behalf of the Director of Accounting and Finance in his/her absence

· Lead the management of computer inventory and assignment

· Maintain confidentiality of organization’s fiscal information

· Maintain client confidentiality per LS policy and HIPAA Privacy Rule Regulations

· Act as a positive role model for all staff, families and children working with Little Star and model a high standard of reliability, accuracy, integrity, and professionalism

· Work to positively impact team spirit and overall morale

· Adhere to all Little Star policies and procedures

· Perform other duties as assigned by supervisors

Educational Qualifications and Skills:

· Bachelor’s degree business, preferably in accounting or finance; Certified Public Accountant preferred

· Five plus years’ experience in accounting / finance

· Technology proficient with Microsoft Office

· Strong organizational habits with attention to detail and accuracy

· A positive team player and energetic professional

· Excellent time management skills along with the ability to manage multiple tasks

· Ability to analyze/solve problems and work in a fast-paced environment

· Strong communication skills with ability to communicate appropriately given the circumstances of the situation and audience involved

· Discretion in matters that need to remain private

· Ability to work with a variety of people, both internal and external

Supervisory Responsibility

This position has no supervisory functions.

Work Environment

Position operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office and audiovisual equipment.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk, use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds.

Travel

Travel is generally not expected for this position but may be occasional to remote sites and/or training events or conferences, as needed.

Condition of Employment

· Must successfully pass the initial and updated criminal history, background, and record checks, which includes driving history checks.

· Must wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), as provided by LittleStar, where physical distance cannot be attained.
